I was told on Friday that the US Embassy would need 5 working days to process my passport, and then they'd get it couriered back to me.

It arrived a few minutes ago...

I remember applying for my first passport back in 1985, doing so three months earlier than I needed it because they said it could take up to two months to process. I received it in about a week.
