Keeping the board flat is one problem. The biggest problem, however, is that it doesn't have a deck of cards. To save printing costs, they printed all of the cards on the game board, and you "draw" cards by rolling dice until you get an unused card. This means you can't have your hand in front of you, and I know that neither Lisa nor I can play our hands without the cards in front of us. It's simply too difficult to keep the load combinations in our heads.

I enjoy playing Iron Dragon in its online form. Lisa just thinks the extra rules on foremen excessively complicate things. Having ships to allow movement across oceans is sort of interesting.
