and nothing worse, fortunately.

As I was coming in to work this morning, a pickup somewhere ahead of me decided to shed a box of Stuff. The first I knew of this was when the van ahead of me did a brake-and-swerve, scattering some of the contents. This left contents across the width of the lane, so my choice was what to hit rather than whether to hit something.

What I clipped was, I think, a brick that was hiding behind a paper bag - it was a definite "thump" on the offside front. The steering seemed unaffected, the gauges didn't change and no warning lights came on.

I checked when I parked at work, and that tyre was definitely low. So I went and had a coffee, and came back, to find it now flat.

So: out with the penknife, the jack and the wheelbrace, and change the tyre for the spare. I really must remember to (a) get a better knife to cut the cableties that retain the wheel trims and (b) keep a pack of disposable gloves in the car. It really is just as well that I got round to getting that jack off Ebay last year.

But it could have been a lot worse...
