I had planned to Do Things in the garden, if fine, and tidy the dining room if not. Samson had other ideas...

Some time ago he got into some of Marcia's medicines. Presumably he liked the taste, because he's been doing it again lately. Mostly, it's been the vitamin supplements and so forth.

Not on Sunday. He decided to eat half a card of Marcia's extra strong sleeping tablets.

So we rang the vet. The answerphone message gave a mobile number for contact, but the last digit was unclear, and the two versions we tried were both wrong. So: out with the Yellow Pages and look for another one.

We wound up with Pet Doctors in Soham, who were willing to open up and do something. So: Samson into the car, remains of packet into pocket, and off we go.

The vet decided that (a) an emetic was in order (agreed) and (b) washing soda would do nicely. So we administered washing soda, first in solution via a syringe, and then neat. Samson looked uncomfortable, but didn't throw up. Lather, rinse, repeat. And again. Still no effect.

Eventually I thought that taking him out for a walk might do good: it did. He threw up as soon as we got outside the door - clearly his training against messing up indoors was still working well.

So I got to move the bits of my websites over to their new homes instead of tidying the garden. At least all that seems to be working at the moment....
