trying to write more frequently, if not closer to the actual date of the event.

Monday: delayed on the way home by an accident in the A1(M) Hatfield tunnel that closed the road for a while. I think the accident must have been about 4pm: it was about 4:10 when I caught up to the queue about a mile south of J2. Progress was in fits and starts, and there were a couple of times when I got out and stretched my legs (Did anyone talk to anyone else? Of course not, we're English).

I was lucky: about 10 cars from the exit at J3 (where the road was closed) when the lights went off and the road reopened (about 5:45). Some people had just made it onto the slip road then - I wonder how much longer they were stuck for, as the centre of Hatfield appeared to be gridlocked.

So I was about an hour-and-a-half late home, and so a similar time late into the pub in Cambridge. Which made the beer all the tastier...

Tuesday: Coveney Parish Plan meeting in the evening. We appear to have had 59 of the 156 forms back, plus however many are with the member who couldn't make it. So it looks like about a 40% return rate; not bad considering we haven't been hassling people for them. Coming next: data entry :-(

Wednesday: Marcia's car in for MoT - passed with no problems. So no shopping, which meant we went out for dinner (especially as the local Indian in Broad Street does a cheap meal offer on Wednesdays...

I did my Good Deed for the week: coming back from a meeting in Central London I noticed that a child had got off and left her (favourite?) toy behind. I managed to attract the mother's attention and returned it. Back to grinding the faces of the poor, disinheriting orphans, &c with a light heart...

Thursday: Duchess to the vet for dental work. One molar gone, plus antibiotics for the next week.

Friday: Nothing much, apart from Patchouli not being in for dinner. Or her bedtime snack, which is most unlike her.

Saturday: Caught up with last Sunday's Sox-Cubs game on tape. Caught up with email &c (mostly). Still no sign of Patchy :-(
