and food, or so it seems.

Put the Escort in for service on Friday, and spent most of the afternoon wandering around Ely, visiting pubs and charity shops. Marcia was doing another bit of her ECDL, followed by a break, followed by a hairdo.

I did solve, at least in principle, the problem of the dogs getting into the cat litter boxes - I'd thought of hooks and eyes, but there weren't any in suitable sizes. But there were cup hooks, and eyebolts, and chain, and split rings, so I thought something could be done...

St Peters was short-staffed, so the car wasn't ready as early as expected, so it's due back on Wednesday for a bit more work. I couldn't leave it there over the weekend, as I have an important meeting on Monday.

Got back, checked email - meeting cancelled. Bah.

And so, by taxi, to Needhams in Witchford for dinner, it being Marcia's birthday.

Saturday: up lateish for me (9am) and installed the hardware. So far it seems to be working, though we need to check the lengths - Samson got caught on Saturday afternoon having forced his way into the upstairs bathroom but then couldn't get out(!)

We'd arranged to meet my father for lunch at the Old Ferryboat in Holywell. But he turned up here unexpectedly, having decided that he wasn't sure of finding the place. So off to the Anchor in Sutton Gault for lunch: smoked eel, followed by wild boar sausages, washed down with a pint of Hobson's Choice.

In the evening, "After Hours", a blues band from Kings Lynn, were playing at the village hall. They're one of our most popular draws (this is I think their third visit) and we spent most of the time in the bar (where it was quieter) showing round the proof copy of the Parish Plan Report. I showed it to all of the Plan Group members who were there except one - Nick Mumford has been in Antarctica, where he grew a beard, and I didn't recognise him until too late. Oops...

Sunday: peace and quiet, relaxing...
