The offside front tyre was looking a bit low when I arrived at work this morning. So I went out at lunchtime to check: flat. It would however pump up with the electric pump I keep in the car, but I could hear it hiss when I disconnected it. So out with the wheelbrace: nothing doing.

Time to print a list of local tyre shops and drive off. The first was just that - a shop that sells tyres: no fitters. Into Kwik-Fit - can get to you in an hour or so sir.

Up the Edgware Road to Northway Tyres: certainly sir, just drive in and park here please. The fitter checked all the tyres before dropping the offender into a bucket of water to find the leak. He apologised to me that it was too close to the edge to repair, and I countered that with the milage I do, I didn't want a repair. So that was agreed then.

So that was £35.99 I wasn't planning on spending. But I should get home without having to call the AA.
