Dakota used to think that - but we got those light blocking curtains for the bedroom and ignored him when he threw things off the dressing table and eventually he learned that when mummy is having a long lie, he'll get fed when she's ready.
During the week I'm usually up at around 6am to be in work for 7. Dakota got used to this - and for a while had problems with the idea of "weekends" and "holidays".
Faldo has always been a food machine, with me breakfast was always 8am, however when I was ill for a few days there was the regular expectation at 8am and then a number of growels whines and moaning until I got off my sick bed and staggered down stairs to feed him. I must say Rebel is a lot more laid back than Faldo and is quite happy to wait for his food. However, he does have this habit that, if your foot or hand is hanging over the edge of the bed it should be licked, this of course wakes you and he gives you the look, "well your awake you can do breakfast now can't you.
