Spent most of the day in Powell getting furniture delivered, and then prowling around the house measuring things up and considering...

One decision is that the big chest freezer would be better off in the laundry room in the middle of the basement. Unfortunately this means moving it out of the room it's in, across the corridor, and into the laundry room. As assembled, it's 30" wide and the doorway is 29" if we take the door off...

I haven't even checked the alignment of the doors or the width of the laundry room door. There may even be scope for moving the freezer on its side or end.

Having not heard "Right said fred" for ages and ages, Terry Wogan or Ken Bruce played it Monday or Tuesday morning on the way into work, as a new recording of it is on the Children in Need charity CD this Christmas (along with Terry and Aled Jones singing Little Drummer Boy (the Crosby/Bowie version)). Radio 2 DJ Mark Radcliffe (of Radcliffe and Maconie)

It's on their BandAged CD, details here (http://www.bandaged.org.uk/3.html)

When we needed to move a slightly larger item out of a room, we ended up having to remove the beading/part of the frame around the door to get it to fit ... if it is *very* close, then you could use something like a car jack and wood across the door frame to open it slightly (it's a well known "trick" for breaking into houses ... use a car jack to widen the frame slightly until the lock tongue doesn't engage with the strike plate ... which is why my front door has a lock that does bolts top and bottom as well as across!
