It looks as if the chest freezer will go through the doorways and across the hall if I knock out the pins from the door hinges. Which looks simple if I can find the right drift...
We now have phone/internet/cableTV at the house. We even have a phone! (but neither PC nor TV). And new locks on all the doors. And the rest of the temporary furniture arrived.
We wanted the cable TV system in the upstairs living room, which turns out to be the only room the previous occupants hadn't already cabled. So the installer needed to drill a hole through the outside wall from the carport...
We have solid bricks in our wall - I think he had to remove the battery from his drill four times to recharge it before he finished. But it all works now!
We also bought some cheap cutlery and disposable plates to tide us over till the real stuff gets here.
Coming next: proper snag list. Also, visit from Jessie (our ex-daughter-in-law), our granddaughter Alex, and Alex' two half-brothers. Pity we've only got cutlery for two, really...

I lived in Toad Hall for 20 years, then stayed at Joe & Edie's for 4 months before buying Toad Woods. The movers brought my household belongings about 3 weeks later, so I had some of that same "camping out" experience you're currently living trough. Earlier this week, I revisited those memories as I worked on paring down the size of my iPhoto image library.
Enjoy the settling-in process. With every step, you transform the place into your home.

It appeared to be much more resistant to drilling than the installer expected. But then, he's probably used to breezeblock at worst, whereas many of the houses in Edgewood Heights are actually brick-built, which is unusual here.
