Not sure what I've covered recently - Marcia's father is doing fine, and is continuing to defy medical opinion.

The cats are doing well, as Princess' thyroid levels are back to normal after the month of treatment. Duchess was looking a bit thin, so we put her in for tests: not only has she held her weight since moving, but her liver functions are normal which wasn't the case a year ago).

Jobhunting continues to get nowhere, so I'll probably have to look for something cheap'n'cheerful locally rather than working as an ADABAS/Natural specialist at about 5x the salary...

The ways of Comcast's PVRs continue to mystify me as I search for a way to make the home theatre, the DVD player and the PVR all work together.

I did find some markers in Walmart for playing Empire Builder, and their only problem seems to be that they're too erasable - it's advisable to keep an eye open for missing bits of trackage during play.

On the other hand, it's raining...

Maybe Lisa and I should bring our copy of British Rails to SMOFCon, if y'all are coming out to Austin. :)

Lisa and I have played Lunar Rails a couple of times. It is probably the most difficult of the series, I think. I've played the electronic/online version of Iron Dragon, and Lisa has expressed little interest in playing the board game version.

We're currently most pleased with India Rails. We'd love to play Nippon Rails, but the "tube" version is no good at all, and I expect Mayfair will never release a flat-board version.

Keeping the board flat is one problem. The biggest problem, however, is that it doesn't have a deck of cards. To save printing costs, they printed all of the cards on the game board, and you "draw" cards by rolling dice until you get an unused card. This means you can't have your hand in front of you, and I know that neither Lisa nor I can play our hands without the cards in front of us. It's simply too difficult to keep the load combinations in our heads.

I enjoy playing Iron Dragon in its online form. Lisa just thinks the extra rules on foremen excessively complicate things. Having ships to allow movement across oceans is sort of interesting.

You might want to look for EXPO Vis-a-Vis wet wipe fine point markers, as the name say you have to use water to erase them. I use them for D&D maps and get them at an office supply store (US: Staples, Office Max, Office Depot)

Good to hear.
