Marcia's op is still scheduled for Monday 16th, but the surgeon wanted to see a CAT scan first. So we had to be at Hinchinbrooke by 10am for an 11am scan.No problem with being there - we left a bit after 9am and were there in about 40 minutes.

No problem with queues in Radiology either - they had been running late[1], but had now caught up. So Marcia went in on time, while I caught up with the usual hospital magazines. Hinchinbrooke seems to have an odd selection : last time I found a copy of the Journal of the 750 Motor Club; this time it was a Morgan Owners' Club magazine, complete with description of a trip to Jordan.

After about half-an-hour, Marcia came back and said "I'll tell you about it later." It seems that the last thing to be done before the procedure was to inject a dye. This immediately rang alarm bells - what kind of dye. Iodine-based, and Marcia (a) is allergic to iodine and (b) Hinchinbrooke know this. Whilst this particular preparation is said not to trigger allergies, the radiologist decided to delay the procedure till this week, when the first team will be on hand if anything does go wrong.

So that was a waste of a morning.

Afternoon - catching up on Usenet (Tim) and napping (Marcia)

Evening: on the patio with the barbie, once I'd got it lit, and steaks, and beer.

Sorry the test was delayed but hope it doesn't postpone the surgery.

I must admit to being shocked that you don't go to medical appointments with a book. Thanks to my latest scare, I've been going to my HMO frequently and I never go without a paperback.
