So, finally, Marcia went over to Hinchinbrooke for her laparoscopy yesterday. She was admitted to the private wing at 11.00am, and we sat around, and waited. And waited some more. Fortunately I was reading Falling Stars by Michael Flynn, which is a Heavy Tome (and quite a good read). She finally went down to surgery at about 4pm, so I came home, fed the cats and Samson, and went back. She was back, alert, about 6.15pm, feeling good about the op.

Apparently (and I expect to know more next week, when she goes back for follow-up) the surgeon found quite a lot of adhesions and an unsuspected hernia. Since one of the adhesions was between her liver and her gall bladder, and was inflamed, this may well explain her symptoms. In which case, she should be on the road to recovery now.

They discharged her this morning, so we came home and she's been sleeping a lot. I expect this will last most of the week, but we should be back up to doing things again in about a fortnight.

Great news - hope they're right and that the removal of the adhesions will fix everything. Please send her my love and hopes that she will get well soon!

Excellent. It sounds like a correct diagnosis at last is 9/10 the way to a cure.
