We've been thinking he was looking thinner these days, and Marcia heard him breathing rather hoarsely on Wednesday, so yesterday he was off to the vet. Without, apparently, much complaint - another bad sign.
So: general anaesthetic, X-rays, blood and urine analysis. Answer: he has an enlarged heart, probably a symptom of a generally weakening heart, and congestion in his lungs. All of which could be leading to congestive heart failure in time :-(
But the blood and urine work came out reasonably normal, which is good. Some further diagnostics will be needed, like an ECG and a scan (a cat CAT scan?), and then we can decide where we're going. Apart from spending more money: yesterday's bill was UKL 250, and the next steps are probably more. So much for any new windows this year...
