Two Strikes...

First, one of the heating systems packed up last week. The nice man could only come on Saturday morning, and it turns out that one of the two heating elements had packed up, while the other had had the fusible link melt. And the chap who made the spares for these systems died last year, so You Can't (necessarily) Get The Parts. Still, we now have one side working, and We Have Heat.

Secondly, my Escort started having a bit of squeal from the engine compartment, which I thought might be the alternator drive belt playing up. It was - it broke about 4 miles from home this evening, so I shall have the AA out to see to it tomorrow morning. Fortunately I was going to be home then anyway awaiting a package of rare breed bacon acquired from a smallholder on Cix. It could be worse...
