Oh, good! I take it he is not wearing an Elizabethan Collar (my cats just keep going backwards around the room if we attempt to fit one.)

I sympathise with the bill (which actually seems quite reasonable, giving that Pet Plan have paid out over £1800 for operations on Ellie's teeth over 2005. Not to mention the several hundred for Kero's on-going medication for her heart murmur.
