Catching Up With Things

Bills paid - check.
Unopened letters opened - mostly.

Rayburn turned down - check. Still burning at about 350 deg F.
Sent inquiry to chap on Ebay about replacement wicks - check

Supply fine sunny weather - fail. Grey & 'orrible ;-(

Yup - the cleaning I did seemed to be enough to let it run, but it took about 36 hours to come up to temperature.

I suspect the wicks need replacing.

Aha.

There's possibly a certain amount of having to get to a certain heat before the extraneous moisture still there gets properly driven off, and so on. A little like lighting a fire with damp wood - it'll chug along for a while at a low level before passing a threshold and really taking hold.
