Leopold has already sorted them out. Of course, since there are already five adult cats here, they pretty well know where they fit in the pecking order.
One of the reasons we're adding a pair now is to maintain the age structure of the Menagerie, now that Patchouli and Tabitha are coming up on four and we lost Jasper at age nine. I won't be surprised to lose Princess or Duchess in the next year or so (they're 15 and 14 respectively). (For completeness, Smokey will be 10 in October.)
I don't think it's good to have too aged a population, but I also believe in adding kittens in pairs so they don't annoy the adults (so much). Which is why we were starting to look to add a pair sometime in the next year or so. It just didn't take anything like that long...

Actually, I think about things like age structure too ... Chia is 16, the boys are 13, and Minnow is 4. I'm waiting until Chia pops her clogs before adding any more. And then it will be a pair, for the reasons you outline. Though I think Minnow will enjoy kittens. She has so much to teach them.
Jess and Iver Chia and Kaeti (liked cars ... a lot, in all the wrong ways) Smudge and Snufkin
Tomlin was a stray who attempted to adopt my former father-in-law Bandit was a stray who adopted us The Late Lamented Sophie arrived because I wanted a frivolous kitten, and also because Iver had gone missing for three months and I thought Jess needed a little friend ... Iver promptly came home again. Sophie had kitty leukaemia when she was eighteen months. Minnow was ... is ... well, she seemed like a good idea, and I haven't changed my mind.
I rather thought I'd had more cats than that ... hmm.

Both of them look real sweeties. Soon they will rule the dogs with a rod of iron...

Am being all responsible here, and you show me basketloads of tuxedo kittens, torty kittens and ginger kittens.
Really not fair. It's extremely fortunate I'm about to flee the town for a few days.
