Last week, one of our prospective neighbours (who bought the barn next door) knocked on the door to say hello. As she was leaving, she said that they were looking for a place in Coveney for her mother, to be near them. So I, naturally, mentioned that we were going to be looking to sell, and quoted a rough price. And she said they might be interested, and went away.

Today she was back with her husband, and they liked the place, and shook on a deal. So now we really are moving to Tennessee (subject to my Green Card letting me be an alien).

It wasn't the highest valuation, but it was way more than the lowest, and it appears to be a cash deal.

Blimey. I have to say, my feelings are mixed. On the one hand, congratulations on getting the sale in a hopefully problem-free way. On the other hand, wah. This means you're really going...

But we'll still be coming for visits. It's not forever goodbye. We both have very mixed feelings about it. I'm still a bit in shock. It can't possibly be that easy. That said, the same thing happened when we sold the house in Chattanooga. Maybe that's just the way it's supposed to be with us.

Realistically, we can go a year between meetings. And it's much easier to keep in touch than it used to be. Still, wah. But I am looking forward to hearing all about the relocation. I have actually quite fancied living in the US temporarily, just for the novelty value, not to mention the huge houses and tracts of land you can afford over there.

Wow. Looks good. Lots of space for the price, even in Tennessee. The soft market over here must be helping.

And a great big huge congratulations on the easy house deal on the UK end! That's fabulous.

Wow, that's great news.

All appropriate digits crossed that things administrative and legal continue to go smoothly and quickly.

Mazal tov on the sale! I know, it gets really weird when you've been talking about and planning a move and then something happens in the outside world to make it actually real to you. I can appreciate Brit fandom being sad to see you go but I must admit that I'm hoping we'll get to see you guys again at cons on our trips to the US. It's been too long... Best of luck with all the logistics!

Congratulations! I thought that must have been what had happened.

I am so pleased for you, but sorry that you both won't be here in future... (waaaaaah)
