Went to see the local doctor yesterday, and he confirms that my blood pressure is not high, so the reading at the Green Card medical last week was probably an aberration.

Cambs Police rang up to inquire if I'd been arrested back in the late 1970s. "No." "Well that's all right then, and your 'no trace' report will be in the post this evening." I'm not entirely convinced they should take my word for it, though I had commented that if I had been arrested, I probably wouldn't have spent 30 years working for the Home Office and PNC.

Marcia's father is a bit better, so no sudden flights yet.

The solicitors have all gone suspiciously quiet...

We pushed ours a lot to try and complete within the month when we were buying our Waterbeach place. It worked and we had the keys in three weeks.

When I was in the property game in the 90's the fastest completion and exchange of contracts I saw happen took place within 48 hours. So they can work fast when they want to.

In one of my jail misadventures I went to court with my friend John the lawyer at my side. He spoke to the DA for a bit privately to work a deal. After a few minute of papers going back and forth my friend came back to me and took me aside.

"I have to ask this." he said "It seems silly I know but just checking. You don't have any outstanding warrants in California for drug trafficing do you?"

"um John...I have never been west of the Mississippi."

"Oh good. I figured that was a bit off. I will be right back"

obviously that got resolved. It was an odd moment though.
