Work is getting disjointed, what with all the time I'm taking out to help Marcia in and out of hospital. So the weekend just kinda snuck up on me.

But things got done. I thought that getting all my old magazines visible would help with tidying up the garage, which seems to be this year's Grand Project. So, last weekend I bought the local stationery shop out of magazine boxes (6), and ordered another 20. Those I picked up on Wednesday, and promptly used them all. So, Saturday, back to the store and bought another 20. I now have one left unused and (I think!) no magazines to put in it. Except for the 60+ years of National Geographic...

Next question: does a magazine not appearing on Ebay mean it is (a) priceless or (b) worthless? Maybe I need to find a dealer and pretend to be buying...

Nothing on abebooks, either.

In other news, Marcia finally got motivated to fill out an application for naturalisation as a British citizen. She's been putting this off, since IND wanted to hold both our passports for the 6+ months this will take, which with her having elderly parents is a no-no, but the rules have changed, so that certified copies will do instead. About time too...

And on Sunday she got two locals to fill out the referees sections, so we're pretty much ready to go.

In sporting news, England beat New Zealand at cricket in a close game. We won't mention the French.

I took a half-day yesterday (which enables me to solve the problem of booking half-days on the new system - I'll redefine my leave and take last Thursday as a full day annual, with Friday 4th and yesterday as half-days on flexi) because the local solicitor thought I should turn up when getting the copy of my passport certified. Not quite sure why, but any excuse...

In the interval between that and going out for the evening, we finally got round to installing Marcia's new printer. Well, actually, it was more a matter of clearing Marcia's old system off the desk so as to have space to set things out - all it needed was a reason, and writing a rude letter to NTL: Freedom about the differences between their letters and their actual charges turns out to be that reason.

And so down to the Cambridge Blue for the local fan group. This turned out to be a bad day: apparently there was a rowing event yesterday and the rowers were all in the pub afterwards. This did mean that they were spit-roasting a pig, but it also meant you couldn't move by 8pm even in the garden. So we edged out a bit after 9pm, having picked up some network cards for [livejournal.com profile] the_magician from [livejournal.com profile] armb. Since we could use some, Chris may not see them unless he visits soon...
