Haven't updated in a while: been spending time quietly at home, mostly.

Yesterday was a nice day, so we took a drive. First to Sutton Bridge to find some UPSs that I'd bought on Ebay last week. The lady of the house was away when we got there, but her husband was there, and turned out to be the one actually selling the kit. This should give us some protection against the vagaries of the local power supply. Once they're installed, that is; anybody local got a spare C14-C13 mains lead? I've found three so far, but we could use another one or two.

Onwards across to Stoke Ferry, to look at a house. Not that we're intending to move any time, but our friend Sasha has been making noises about moving to the country. So I went to look on rightmove (as one does) and found somewhere that looked both interesting and cheap. Nice village (two pubs, Pat!) and nice countryside around it, but commuting would be a problem for me and the house turned out not to suit us anyway. But we'll bear it in mind should we need to move somewhere with better local services than Coveney.

And now the wind is getting up and threatening to demolish the front fence. Hopefully, this is winter's last blast; roll on spring.

(Nods) Storm 10 to hurricane force 12 in Viking, severe storm 11 in North Utsire, South Ustire, Forties, Fisher, Rockall, Bailey. One of those days when it is such a deep satisfaction to listen to the shipping forecast in one's bed with one's cat purring under the blanket.

I've got a few I can pass on to you at Eastercon if you and Marcia are going to be there. Remind me nearer the time though.

Right now my job du jour involves extracting installed UPS units and replacing them with new ones as part of a rolling upgrade program for shops. The new units come with lots of extra C14-C13 cables which we don't need as we use the existing wiring.

And we have a busy weekend next weekend.

A better bet might be for you to get a C14 rewireable plug and fit it to a 4-way (or better) power strip in place of the regular 13A plug. That way you can power things like wallwarts from the UPS supply too, as well as using regular 13A-C13 leads. C14-C13 cables are only of use if the devices you want to power have an IEC-C13 power socket. You might find a supplier that can sell you one already made up -- I know I've bought them like that before but I can't remember where.

If you need a C14 plug in a hurry I can post one down to you.
