This morning, the doorbell rang - the postman had a "signature required" letter for Marcia from Liverpool. I expected that it was the documents she'd sent to India House in support of her application for British nationality being returned.

Which it was. But the covering letter said that her application, instead of taking 6+ months to process, had been approved and she'll be off to a ceremony some time soon.

At least some bureaucracies can recognise a straightforward case when they see it and can deal with it.

Drinks all round, I think...

Does this mean there won't be a July 4th BBQ next year, then?

Marcia's independence from the USA?

Our loss, the UK's gain. (Can't say I blame anyone for not wanting to travel on a U.S. passport these days...)

Congratulations!

Aha, another one assimilated. Resistance is futile...

Cheers! (And just after your celebration of the 4th! So timely. Of course, this means she can't cast her vote against the Shrub, which is a shame.)

Congratulations! Does this mean that she loses her USA passport and right to vote there, but also her obligation to pay tax there?
