Not a hope in hell I could make it; I have eight working days in the easter holidays in which I have to fit in a chemical stock check and preparing four A-level and AS-level physics practical examinations. Any realistic plan for Florida would eat a lot more of the holiday than a UK Eastercon does, and wouldn't leave me enough time to get my job done.
Plus I couldn't afford it, but you knew that anyway.
Shouldn't be any more expensive than Jersey for most of us I'd guess ... but I do think it would end up being a small convention (under 400 people) and might be the next step in the "death of the Eastercon".
In 1990 we had about 1000 members at EastCon'90. I'm pretty sure that Helicon II, and last year's Eastercon were both under 700 members (or thereabouts). I'm guessing that Blackpool (www.eastercon.com/concourse) won't have 700 warm bodies (and may not even make it to 700 counting children, toys, supporting, no-shows etc. as we're currently around 550 with 10-20 memberships a week and postal registration cutting off in 10 days (well, officially anyway, we'll see how many envelopes we can open that arrive late... best plan for late joiners is to join online as that is probably good through to April 1st or so).
Oh, and having the Eastercon in America, the Easter after having the Worldcon in the UK seems almost perverse! (or appropriate, depending on how you view things!)
I think if people wanted to go to the US for Easter, there are better established cons to go to. I think most people go to Eastercons to see their friends, and hosting it abroad will cut that number dramatically, partly for cost, partly time and partly because not everyone views the Eastercon as their 'holiday', with all the sightseeing that goes with it.
You could end up with a WorldCon/NASFIC split, which worries me. Mind you, I quite fancy the NASFIC in 2005 ...

Re: I'd go
But it would be Very, Very Odd, wouldn't it?
Re: I'd go
But we'd pick up some Americans, though it would clash with Minicon (but not, IIRC, Balticon). But yes, about 400 Brits sounds plausible.

It's been going to the dogs at least as long as I've been going. This is Not New.

I'll take Both of the Above, please.
Good Friday 2006 is April 14th, BTW.
